When the arrival of the returnees from the abroad started in Bangladesh, the authority initiated testing their body temperature by thermal scanner to assess the primary symptom of corona. Some of them actually fled from the airport escaping the corona test hiding himself or herself.
They thought if caught, they would have to pass corona test in the airport which may be positive or negative. In case of positive, they have to reside at the Ashkana Hajj Camp or anywhere else for fourteen days as a part of quarantine, or they will be taken under either home quarantine or community quarantine; and as such will be an isolated person from the family.
It was also heard that before boarding in the way to Bangladesh, the returnees swallowed himself or herself two to four paracetamols so that their fever does not caught by the scanner at the Bangladeshi airports.
To me it was felt that we, the Bangladeshi people, feel insulted when we have to pass any medical test on social ground, especially when there are possibilities of infectious disease. The people to be tested, take the corona test as an insult and thinks that if his or her test becomes positive, it will be the matter of committing a crime by him or her. But actually not. Bearing the germ of any infectious disease is not his or her fault. It was the environment or situation wherein he or she resided in abroad.
Well, it has been wise possibly to flee from that country to his own country wherein his or her nearing ones live. They returned home with the expectation that if infected, he or she will have a support. But the main cause of their leaving the workplace of the abroad was to remain alive and saving his or her lives from the disease. So, it is not their fault attempting to save themselves from the disease.
But they had to think of their own people where they intended to live in. One point, if one member of the family is infected, other family members have to serve him or her; and there is hundred percent possibility of suffering their family members. At least they should have understood this point and had to undergo the corona test in the air ports after arrival in the country.
Well we are indebted and acknowledge to them because they bring foreign exchange to our country. By using this money, we develop our roads, bridges, highways, education and other sectors, even giving salary of the Republic’s servants at increased rates. We use this to run our country and even in the improvement of our manpower so as to prepare and send them abroad to earn more foreign currencies for us.
